According to the big man in our house, Kyler, we have a HUGE mountain in our backyard. It's not one of those with base camp, but it is large (at least 4 feet high). Currently, there is about 3 inches of snow/ ice on it which makes it a perfect place to play. Bryn and Kyler both love it outside, even in a blizzard, just like their Dad, but on this day, it was only Kyler that made the trek to the summit of our mountain.

ARE YOUR FINGERS PRUNY YET?
Bryn's second swim meet was a lot of fun. She did the 25 and 50 meter freestyle again and the 25 meter backstroke. She is definitely not as competitive as her dad, but her form is great! She is still the youngest swimmer on her team, and loves it. She has worked really hard on her start, again form is incredible. We are so proud of her.

Our BIG announcement and a quick update
We are very excited to announce that baby number 3 is on the way!!!
The due date is June 11th, and as of now we are not planning to find out the sex, however, we'll see what happens when we have the ultrasound ;)
I am 14 weeks along and have been pretty sick again.
This time around I have not been able to drink anything with carbonation, or eat anything with beef. I haven't really craved anything, at least not yet, I am still just trying to eat anything that doesn't make me run to the bathroom.
The kids have been great, Kyler prays every night that I will feel better soon, and Bryn is always asking me if she can help me so I can go rest.
By way of an update:
Erick has now finished 5th semester and is preparing for the first set of National Board Exams. We are just planning to stay here in Michigan while he prepares for the exam and while we wait for the results. At this point it doesn't look like we will be able to stay here in Michigan as we had originally hoped. The program here only begins every September, and we can't wait for September before we get started on the next phase.
So, after Erick gets the results from his Step Exam, we will find out where we will be living for the next two years during which time Erick will complete the third and fourth year of medical school which consists of rotations in family medicine, pediatrics, psychology, surgery, internal medicine, OB-GYN, and then any electives that he is interested in exploring. This is the point where students try to narrow down the different areas of medicine and try to figure out what they want to go into.
The kids are doing great, Bryn had her second swim meet on Saturday ( stay tuned for video of that soon!) Kyler is signed up for basketball and is VERY excited for that to start. Bryn has started an accelerated reading program at school, she gets a book at the beginning of the week and she reads it every night until Thursday and then she takes a test on it. Last week was her first week doing it, and she got 100% on the test. She was so excited when she got home from school to show us.
We have had the swine flu as well as the regular flu at our house, so we are hoping to avoid any other bugs this season.
We also had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We drove over the Pennsylvania to Lee and Jandi's house. My parents were able to come out and we had a great time. Thanksgiving was great, and then we drove to Niagara Falls and did some sightseeing in Erie. The kids had so much fun playing with cousins and getting to see Grandma and Grandpa again. My parent took ALL the kids to have a sleep over one of the nights and Lee, Jandi, Erick and I played Guitar Hero most of the night. It was so fun to have a night like that, thanks mom and dad!
Things have been busy, and now we are just getting ready for Christmas!

SAGINAW STEELERS WIN The TITLE
Is there anything more exciting than watching your favorite college player streak down the sideline for a touchdown at "The Big House", "The Swamp", or "The Horse Shoe"? Yes, watching your 3 year-old do it at the YMCA little league field! Kyler played his first season of football this year with the 3-5 year-old STEELERS, and quickly became a fan favorite. The local media was a frenzy with Kyler player cards, team photos, and heroic tales of last-second comebacks. Somehow during all of the excitement we neglected to video all of his accomplishments. We did get a few pictures, but that is all. The season is now over and the STEELERS finished with a perfect record 6-0 (all other teams had the same record as well. Guess that is why the parents keep score).
THE RUNDOWN: They played for 6 weeks with practices and games on Saturday mornings. Kyler played defensive end (like BIG uncle Trent), and tailback 2 plays per game. Each player on the team had an opportunity to be tailback, the rest of the time they were on the line as a blocker.
THE RULES: Coach Booker did a fantastic job teaching Kyler what he needed to do at the various positions.
Rule #1: If you have the ball run faster than everyone else.
Rule #2: If you have the ball, run faster than everyone else in the right direction.
Rule #3: If you don't have the ball, pull the guys flag that does.
Rule #4: If you don't have the ball, and someone else on your team does, DON'T pull their flag.
THE SCORE: Kyler scored a touchdown in 4 of 6 games, and became very proficient at pulling the opponents flag. When he wasn't running the ball himself, he did a great job sealing the end, so his teammates could make touchdowns too. Way to go ......Ky-BEAR. (Yellow shirt, Black du-rag, gray pants)

SHARKS In The Water
After watching the 2008 Summer Olympics, Bryn decided that she wanted to be on the USA swim team. Her nickname in Dominica was "little fish", and when we moved to the Bahamas we had our own pool that she could practice in. Luckily there is a local competitive swim team here in Saginaw that she has joined. She is the youngest one on her team, and she loves it! Today, was her first meet. She participated in two heats the 25 and 50 Freestyle. She did such a good job. While we were waiting for her to race, Kyler told me "Do you know what I think of Bryn? She is the best swimmer in the whole wide world!" We tried to get him to say it on camera.....but he became a little shy. GO SHARKS!!!

Games only a DAD can play
There are some things that only a Dad can do and this is one of them at our house. The kids LOVE to wait for Erick to get home and then "attach" themselves to him ankles. They will just sat there and wait, what are they waiting for? For him to walk. He will literally walk all over the house pulling them behind him. I MIGHT could manage on the hard wood, but he pulls them on the carpet too, everywhere he goes.
The funniest thing is to listen to them, they are holding on for dear life, and whispering to each other, "I think he's going to move" and then just crack up laughing. Erick will make them wait for a few seconds so they think he's not going to move and then all of a sudden he will take off. They think it is the best thing ever.
Kyler has tried to get me to play, but it is one of those games for Dads!

Last Friday....
Last Friday Kyler and I were downstairs going through a few totes. I was looking for something in particular and Kyler was "just looking", he got into my tote that has some pieces of material in and a few patterns and things. There was a piece of material that I had gotten 2 year ago. It was a sports piece of material and we latched on to it. He wanted to use it as a blanket. So I told him that I had gotten it to make him something. So he wanted me to make him a blanket! I showed him a pattern of PJ pants that I had and told him I could make him pair of those. He got so excited and wanted to go make them right now! We went upstairs and got out my sewing maching and everything we needed. While I was getting my machine out he was looking over the instructions. When I came back out he said, "are you sure you can do this?" Laughing I told him yes, I could make them. I started to cut out the pattern and then the put it on the material and cut it out, again he asked me if I could really do it. From start to finish it took me about 2 hours and in that 2 hours, I think he asked me 5 times if I could really do it. When I got the legs sewn and pretty much put together, I wanted him to try them on before I did the waist and hem the legs. He kept telling me they were too big and didn't fit. When he took them off and handed them to me he said (under his breath) "I sure hope you know what your doing". Well, I got them finished and he was so excited he wore them the entire day, and this was at 10:30am!!
To top off the day, while I was sewing, I gave him some grapes to eat. He ate most of them and then when he was finished eating he took the rest of them and squished them on the table and the floor. When I finished sewing and saw what he had done, I made him clean them up. He of course didn't want to and complained for about 5 minutes before doing it. I went to put my sewing machine away and before I came back out I could hear him thowing up in the garbage. This kid has the worst gag reflex. He was throwing up because they were "all squishing and mushing" accoring to him. Well, how to you think they got that way??? So I gave him a paper towel to pick up the rest and he managed to get the job done.

Bryn's hair cut
Last Saturday, we were heading out to get Erick's hair cut and on our way I ask Bryn if she was okay if we checked with them to see if we could get her hair trimmed. She said she was okay with it, but that she wanted it cut short. Both Erick and I asked her a few times if she was sure and she kept saying yes, she was. So when we got there is got a cute little A-line. Here are a couple pics of the new cut.

The first day of school

Here are some pictures of the first day of school. I am about a week late, I don't know why I can't pull things together around here, I don't even have any more boxes to unpack to use as an excuse ;) Bryn loves her teacher and she is so happy to be back in school. She has made so many friends already and is just really enjoying it. She goes to school at 7:45 am, it has been a big adjustment for us to be back in the states where everything is always in such a hurry and you are always go, go, go. We are used to being in the island mode where we were more laid back, and let's be honest, lazy! However, we have adjusted quickly.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYN!!!!!!!
On August 23rd, my baby turned 7 years old. I really can't believe she is that old. Her Birthday was on a Sunday, and that was the day my parents were leaving. So we got up to say goodbye to my parents and then get ready for church. After church Bryn opened her presents and we had cake and ice cream. We were still living out of boxes at that point, but we tried to have a very special day for her anyway. I hope it was everything she wanted!

Bryn,
We want you to know that we love you so much. You are such a special little girl and we couldn't be more blessed to have you in our family. You are such an amazing sister to your brother. You are always trying to make him happy and play whatever game he is wanting you to play with him. You always want what is best for everyone else and what will make others happy. The beautiful smile you always have on your face makes my day every morning. You are growing up so fast and as much as I hate it, I love that you are healthy and strong and have such a passion for life. I would keep you small forever just so I could keep you close to me all the time, but I know that is not going to happen. So, I am glad that you have such a desire to make right choices and be obedient. Daddy and I love you so much and we are so proud of the little woman you are becoming. You are THE most beautiful little girl I have ever seen, inside and out!
I love that you are such a girly-girl. You love make-up, jewelry, dresses, high-heal shoes, frilly and lacy anything and you are the biggest shopper I know. You love to go shopping and you can always find something girly no matter what store we go in. You are so into Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and Disney Princesses right now. You are starting first grade this year.
Bryn, Mommy, Daddy, and Kyler love you more than we could every express. We want you to always know that, and to always have that sparkle in your eye. You are so beautiful and so perfect in every way.
I Love you,
mom.

We really need to stop moving.......
Wow, you would think after so many moves (10 to be exact in 8.5 years) that it wouldn't seem like such a big deal! But it has actually been a very big process and I can't tell everyone who helped us out THANK-YOU enough. My parent drove the truck back for us while the kids and I flew, and then they stayed and helped us so much with everything for the few days they had back here. We couldn't have done it without them. Erick parents took us shopping before we left Utah and stocked us up on the essentials that can really add up, they really helped us out a lot. So to them and everyone else, Thank you!
With my lack of blogging comes a lack of following as well, so I can't wait to have a minute and catch back up on all of you!
However, We are here in Michigan and LOVE it. We have been so busy trying to get everything unpacked, and everyone ready to start going again that is has just felt so hectic. Erick and the kids got a cold and that slowed things down a little. Thankfully everyone is over that now. We have been looking for Erick a car, getting Bryn and Erick ready for school and Kyler ready for football!
We love our place, we feel like it is home and could just stay here for a really long time. The area is wonderful. The kids can ride their bikes to a park just around the block from our house. I have to run to keep up with them! The park is great, lots to climb on and play with and it is pretty busy so lots of kids to play with. We love our ward, there are a few medical students and residence in the ward. Kyler's sunbeam teachers are the best ladies ever. They are so fun and cute. Kyler has come home both weeks so excited about sunbeams. Bryn has some really fun teachers as well. She has made a lot of friends in her class already.
We have met most of our neighbors and they are all wonderful. Most of them are retired and have offered to be emergency babysitters!
The garage is now empty and will hold two cars, yea!! The basement is set up for the kids to play. We have lots of storage down there along one wall, but they have the entire room to play, and they have had so much fun down there while Erick and I have been putting things away and organizing. We have seen a little bit of the area just from driving around looking for cars, but we keep hearing how beautiful the fall is and we can't wait to really see things then.
It is a little chilly, okay it is freezing! I have been so cold, even Erick has been chilly so that tells you how cold it is. In the afternoon it does warm up a bit, but I haven't taken off my jacket since we got here! So all I can really say is thank goodness for layers.
Bryn will start school on the 8th of September, Erick starts on the 14th and that day he will have a huge exam called the competency so we are hoping that that will go well and then as he does 5th semester he will be preparing for the board exams. Bryn is also going to start on a swimming team on the 14th and Kyler will start football on the 19th.
Anyway, we are here and happy and everything is going well. I have some pictures to post, I will do that soon. I am finally back so I can be more regular again.

Another haircut at the Anderson's
When we first got to the Bahamas, Erick decided he was going to grow out his hair. We got here in January, and in February he cut it REALLY short. That was the last time he cut it. In June, because it was getting a little shaggy, he cut the the back and sides. He was starting to go to the hospital and clinics and wanted it to look a little more presentable. He didn't cut anything off the top, just the sides. The whole time I have been giving him a hard time about needing a hair cut. Every time I would say anything, he would tell me, "No, I am growing it out." A few days ago when he woke up, it was looking a little crazy. He got up and said he was going to cut it. I was so excited! Doesn't it look so nice?

Our little cover model
Bryn loves to dress-up. I think she spends more time in a day dressing-up and getting make-up on that doing anything else. A few days ago, I came downstairs and she was dressed-up, only this time in my things! She was modeling in the TV. When she saw me she said, "Can we try to find me some shoes like this and glasses like this and a hat like this?" When I told her we would see, she said, "Oh, I really hope we can. This looks so fabulous!" What a cutie!

Michigan.... Here we come!
We found out today that we will be making the next move to Michigan.
Here is a map of where we will be.... We are really excited about how close we are to Erie. Lee and Jandi will be within driving distance!!!
So here is how it works: Erick is just finishing up his second year of medical school. The first two years are the "book work" years. He has spent some time in the hospitals and clinics and seen standardized patients, but for the most part, he has just been studying the basic sciences. He will finish up here in the Bahamas mid August and then meet the kids and I in Michigan. We will be living in Saginaw, Michigan. Here, Erick will be doing what is called the 5th semester. It is Advanced Introduction to Clinical Medicine, and is actually the first rotation of his third year. The first day of 5th semester he will take an exam called the comprehensive exam. Then once 5th semester is over, he will sit of the National Board exam Step 1. After we get his scores back from step 1, we will find out where we will be for the remainder of 3rd year and 4th year. We are unsure at this point where we might be, there are lots of possibilities and probably more than we even know about at this point. So we will take it one step at a time.
The kids and I will be leaving the Bahamas on July 30th, to come home and see family and gather our things!!! Yea, I am so excited to have all of our things again. It feels somewhat like we have been living in limbo for the last 18 months, so we are really excited about that. After a few weeks in Utah, we will head to Michigan and get things set up and ready, then when Erick gets there, he will begin the study for the comp. exam.

Guess who!!
One of the kids favorite games right now is Guess Who. We were playing it today and I was playing on Kyler's team. Bryn asked us the question, "Is yours a girl or a boy?" I usually just help Kyler when he needs it, so I pointed to our picture and asked him the question again, and this was his answer: "............(VERY LONG PAUSE).............um, a boy, with lipstick!" It was so funny. This is a picture of our guy.

My little "Fellas"
Tonight the kids were upstairs getting ready for bed while I cleaned up the kitchen. When I went up to check on the progress, Kyler was playing with his toy bug collection. As soon as I walked in he said, "I am just getting my little fellas ready for bed." It was so cute to watch him, he was so particular about where each of them went in the jar. After he got them all put away I put them in the closet on the toy shelf while he went in to the bathroom. When he came out, he asked where they were. I told him they were in the closet, he went and got them out and said, "My little fellas want to sleep by me tonight, and they want me to read them a story." After we finished with our story and the kids were ready for bed Kyler began to read to his little fellas. I went to get ready for bed and when I came back, Kyler was out.
You can't see it very well, but he has his book in front of his pillow, we must have fallen asleep mid-sentence!

Just as a side note, we have the best kids ever. We are so grateful for them and their own little personalities. Bryn is such a little princess and so sweet and kind. She is always thinking of others and wants to do what is right. And on top of all her beauty inside, she is so beautiful on the outside. We love her so much. Kyler is a very energetic little boy and I would not want him to be any other way. He is so much fun, and loves to play. He is a good boy and always wants everyone to be happy. He is very sensitive if he thinks you are made at him, and has a very tender heart. He definitely has a little attitude, especially when he gets into "character" but like I said we would not want him to be any other way. They are both perfect. Both very different, but both perfect.

All about photography.....
In my last post I mentioned how I have been learning, or trying to learn photography. I think it is wearing off on Bryn more that I thought, tonight for dinner, she couldn't even finish her dinner because she wanted to get a picture of the sunset. She was facing the sliding door while she was eating and it was just pulling her out! She said she was done after about 3 bites, so I told her to go take the picture and then come back and eat. She got the picture and then finished everything on her plate!!! Then she went around the house while Erick and I cleaned up dinner and took pictures of EVERYTHING. She was pretending that she was in a photo contest and had to have the best picture to submit. I love it, and think it is really cute, but when she gets into something she is full speed ahead!
I started another blog to hold all my photos, I am hoping to eventually be able to make some money doing this, so I figured it would be easier to start it now and have it the way I want it to be when that time comes. The link is on my side bar, check it out and let me know what you think...

Update
I don't know what my problem has been lately. I am finding myself at the end of the day wishing there were about 4 more hours in the day. Unfortunately, my blog seems to be what keeps getting put on the back-burner during the shortage of time ;0)
So by way of a quick update to get back on track of blogging our lives:
Erick is spending ALL of his time at the school. He has his mini 2 Exam coming up a week from Monday. When he is not at the school, he is playing b-ball with the guys from school.
Bryn is at such a fun age right now. She just lost
her second tooth and is getting one in place of the first one she lost. She is in the "What if" stage. Everything she sees or hears she will say, "What if that tree fell on the car?" or "What if I ate all my food and then went to bed." About 90% of her sentences start this way. It is so fun to see her mind working and thinking about so many things around her. She is such a great helper around the house and is always helping me with Kyler. She is mostly happy, but has her moments when a slight attitude creeps out. Erick and I are still debating on where she gets it from!
Kyler is also at a fun stage, he is in the "pretend" stage. I can't even count the times in a day that I hear him say, "Pretend that I was spiderman and you said; look, it's spiderman" or something that includes pretend. He is really into dressing up. Between Batman and Spiderman we always have a superhero at our house. He loves to play any sport and is really good at all of them. We love Kyler and his energy and personality. He keeps us on our toes.
I just got home from a surprise visit to Utah. I went for Trent and McKenzie's wedding. It was so fun to show up and surprise everyone. The weekend went way to fast, we were so busy the whole time with everything going on, but I was ready to get home and see the kids! The wedding was beautiful. They make a perfect couple and compliment each other very well. We are very excited to add McKenzie to our family. The kids keep calling her their "NEW" aunt. The other day Kyler asked if Trent was his new aunt as well. After I quit laughing, I explained that Trent was his uncle, and has been since he was born. I think it is still sinking in!
The kids and I are staying very busy and having a lot of fun. We don't have much time left on the island and we are all really going to miss it. We have made some great friends and wonderful memories. However, we are also excited to be back stateside and moving forward on this adventure.
I have a friend who is teaching me everything she knows about photography. She is an amazing wedding photographer. We have taken pictures of my own personal, PERFECT model, Bryn. We also have plans to take a bunch more, so I will be posting those here as I take them. I am very excited about it and have had so much fun doing it. Preview below.....

So, I am now officially back to regularly blogging and keeping everyone up to date on our life!

"I WON!!!!"
My kids all love the "traps" at the grocery store! You all know them, they are the coin machines that give you candy or the 25 cent rings or sticky hands. Basically the toys that break before you even get home from the store. Every time we go to the store, they both say, "If we are really good today, can we have a quarter?" Well recently Kyler has discovered the tattoo machine. Actually he found it about 3 months ago. The thing is, the tattoo machine costs 50 cents instead of the 25 cents. So now they ask for 50 cents if they are good. Kyler will ALWAYS go for the tattoos and Bryn will ALWAYS go for one quarter for candy and one quarter for the toy machine. It is so funny to watch!
As we all know, they display the "BEST" tattoos in the window of the machine and then never give you the ones you can see until yesterday, we went to the store and once again, the kids ask, "If we are really good can we have 50 cents?" Of course they were great the whole time and got their 50 cents. Erick and I was paying and loading the cart and all of a sudden Kyler started screaming, "I WON, I WON!!! I got Spiderman." It was so loud and he was so excited. It litterally sounded like he had won the lottery. And I actually think in "little boy world" that was what happened yeterday! He was so happy and excited. As we left the store (after all the workers saw what he had won!) he was walking with a strut and acting like he was the king of the world. It was so funny. So we came home and put them on. After I got them on he said, "Mom, now go get a knife and thread and sew this on me so it will NEVER, EVER, EVER come off, okay?" I don't know what we are going to do when it does wear off and we never win on that machine again.

swimming tricks
During the break, we spent a lot of time swimming!! Kyler has learned how to swim with out any floating device, thanks to his Dad who spent a lot of time with him! He learned how to actually take a breath when his head was out of the water. For a long time now, he would bring his head up, but he wouldn't take a breath. They are both diving really well and Bryn can do three different strokes. She REALLY wants to be on a swim team when we get back so she is working on her dives and strokes everyday. They love to swim in the ocean and the pool. I don't think they have a favorite, as long as it is water. Kyler loves to open his eyes in the water and it doesn't matter if it is the pool or ocean, so we are trying to keep his goggles on so he doesn't look like his eyes are blood shot all the time!! If we go anywhere in the evening, everyone want to know if he is okay and what happened to his eyes.
A little unexpected visitor
The apartments across the way have been renovated. Last week they covered the building with a huge tarp and fumigated the building. The first morning after they had the tarp on Kyler went down to the kitchen. Erick was in the front room, and Kyler yelled from the kitchen, "Dad, come see this." Erick went into the kitchen and this centipede was hanging from the edge of the shelves we have in the kitchen. Usually Centipedes are VERY fast and they hurt really bad if they bite you. However, this one was slow and kind of "drugged up" That is why I think it came from the apartments across the street. Erick got it outside and killed it. While he did that Kyler was yelling up the stairs, "Mom, come see this." And Erick was yelling, "No, don't come down here." Erick knew that I would become psycho about looking for them in the house. And I have to admit he is right. It freaks me out to think about finding one of them.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERICK!!!
May 5th was Erick's birthday. The kids were so excited to have a suprise for him. However, After Kyler told him ALL our plans it was more of a surprise for the kids than Erick. He went to the school that morning so we could decorate. We blew up balloons, made birthday cards, and a huge posted to hang on the wall. We also made a cake for him. When Erick came home they ran outside to yell surprise. He opened his present which was a new white shirt, a new swim suit, a littlest pet shop puppy (from Bryn) and cards. It was a great day. We went to the beach after and played all afternoon. Then we went out for dinner to a place called East. Erick had Sushi, and I actually tried one of the rolls (not my favorite). The kids inhaled the soybeans they bring out as apetizers. Bryn had shrimp and tempura vegtables. Kyler had some shrimp and vegtables as well, and he actually ate a lot of the fish from the outside of Erick's rolls, he wouldn't eat the whole roll, but he liked the fish!! I think it was a pretty good birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERICK!!! We all love you so much.

Dolphin Encounter
The kids had so much fun swimming with the dolphins. They were both a little unsure at first, but warmed up quickly. After the two hours, they both wanted to go again. The two dolphins we swam with were brothers, but I can't remember their names :( They were about 450 pounds, and VERY friendly!!
It was so much fun to go and do. I don't think you can come to the Bahamas and not swim with the dolphins, so we were really excited we were able to go!
We all got kisses, but Bryn's picture was really blurry and Erick and Kyler's was taken from the back.

A day at the National Park
We went to the National Park with Erick, it was one of the things the kids really wanted to do during the break. The fires were burning really bad out that way and had burned one of the caves, so we just went to the beach side and played in the water, collected shells, and had a picnic. It was a really good day. On the way to the beach, the kids were looking over the railing at the fish. Bryn put her feet up on the rail and when when she pulled her foot back the rail pulled her shoe off. Of course it was at the highest point on the bridge where she was standing. I grabbed a picture real quick before I had to help in the rescue. Erick hung his body through the rail and then held Kyler by his feet to reach down and grab the shoe. I was holding Erick's feet and legs because he was holding Kyler with both hands. Bryn was looking over the rail crying! I am sure it was quite the sight to see!! You can't see very well in the picture, but there are A LOT of fish in there, so when we got the shoe back, Bryn wouldn't put it on becuuse she kept saying, "It has fish poop on it." It was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing.
We made it to the beach and had a great time. Afterwards, we drove to the end of the island heading east. There wasn't much out that way, but it was fun to explore.
