A day at the National Park

We went to the National Park with Erick, it was one of the things the kids really wanted to do during the break. The fires were burning really bad out that way and had burned one of the caves, so we just went to the beach side and played in the water, collected shells, and had a picnic. It was a really good day. On the way to the beach, the kids were looking over the railing at the fish. Bryn put her feet up on the rail and when when she pulled her foot back the rail pulled her shoe off. Of course it was at the highest point on the bridge where she was standing. I grabbed a picture real quick before I had to help in the rescue. Erick hung his body through the rail and then held Kyler by his feet to reach down and grab the shoe. I was holding Erick's feet and legs because he was holding Kyler with both hands. Bryn was looking over the rail crying! I am sure it was quite the sight to see!! You can't see very well in the picture, but there are A LOT of fish in there, so when we got the shoe back, Bryn wouldn't put it on becuuse she kept saying, "It has fish poop on it." It was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing.
We made it to the beach and had a great time. Afterwards, we drove to the end of the island heading east. There wasn't much out that way, but it was fun to explore.

The world through Bryn's eyes.

I was putting some new batteries in Bryn's camera for her, and when I finished I was just going to flip through the pictures she had on it.  It was so fun to see the things she had taken pictures of, so I decided to share!

A great weekend that ended way to soon....

We had such a great time while my parents were visiting. The day they got in, the kids could hardly stand the wait. Every time the doors opened at the airport to let passengers off they would both run over to the line to see if it was them. They were so excited when they opened and Grandma came out!! The kids had so many things they wanted to show Grandma and Grandpa, they couldn't hardly get in the door before they were pulling them upstairs to see their room and all their toys. The next day we took them to the Garden of the Groves. Kyler figured since he had already been there once, the only thing to really do was see the playground. We did make it all the way around the garden before we went to the playground. We first stopped to feed the ducks. They were not in the pond when we first got there, so they of course wanted to come right up and get their food from the kids. You can imagine how well that went over!!! ( not good!) So we left the ducks and found the turtles. We tried to feed the turtles some of the bread, but the fish were too fast. They got every piece we threw in. After playing on the playground for a while, we headed back home. We were going to go to a few stores, but we found out that in the Bahamas, Easter is a LONG weekend. They take off Good Friday and Easter Monday. And by taking off, I mean they close down everything. It was so crazy how things were just shut down. We were able to find the place where they keep the dolphins and got to see the trainer feed them. He even had them do a few flips and trips for us. You can't get too close, so we were watching through the fence, but it was so fun to see them. The weather was nice enough to go snorkeling that afternoon, which I have been wanting to do since we got here. It was a lot of fun. The Reef is not near as nice as it is in Dominica, but the water is beautiful and it was still a lot of fun. Grandma and Grandpa were here for Easter Morning, and Grandpa was trying to make some deals with eggs. Something about "1 for you 2 for me....." I think he ended up without any in the end. And then the weekend was over. It ended way to fast. It is amazing how long it seems like it takes for something that you are waiting for to come, and then it comes and is over in the blink of an eye. However, we are very grateful for the time we had to spend with them. Thanks Mom and Dad for coming and everything else. We love you so much, and miss you already.

The kids playing outside a restaurant that we ate at. Very good food!!

The ducks out of the pond.

An interesting bird by the ducks. We watched him swoop in and catch a fish!

Too tired to eat dinner

As Kyler has been transitioning to no naps, he gets tired a little early.  A few nights ago he couldn't even finish his dinner.  After about three bites this is how we found him.....

The thing I find ironic, is the days I do give him a nap he can't go to sleep at night, if we skip the nap, he can't finish his dinner.  I remember the same thing happening with Bryn, it feels like a no win situation!  But I guess it makes for great pictures.

Playing Dress-up

One of the many things the kids like to do together.........

They play so well together.  I find it a little ironic that Bryn who is so girly and loves to be ALL GIRL and Kyler who is ALL BOY and can get a little over aggressive and over the top can get a long so well.  I guess they just compliment each other enough that it works.
One day Bryn was playing with her make-up and wanted Kyler to play.  He didn't want anything to do with make-up, but Bryn told him that football players wear make-up under their eyes.  The next thing I know Kyler comes out with eye shadow rubbed in two lines under each eye.  Bryn had also gotten a few quirts of perfume on him before he got out!!!  I am so grateful that they are such good friends.  We love them so much!

Massive Rain Storm

We have had a massive rain storm the last few days. It started on Monday and rained non-stop for two days. Monday afternoon the kids were playing in the front room and the ceiling started to leak from the skylight. Our landlord told us she has had some problems with this before and to watch it. So I contacted her to let her know it had started to leak. She said she would get her dad to come look at it and see what needed to be done. The rain didn't stop so her father was not able to make it over to look at it. As the day went on the leak got worse. I was running out of buckets to catch the water in. We moved the couches so they wouldn't be damaged. By the end of the day on monday we had all the furniture moved out of the front room. The rain kept going on Tuesday and the leak continued to worsen. We didn't really know what to do other than to keep moving things out of the way. Our landlords father came over on Tuesday afternoon, and said he would be back on Wednesday to patch the leak and try to recover what he could of the roof. He said it looked like it would all need to be replaced. By the time we went to bed Tuesday night, things were very soggy. The walls were starting to bubble the paint was peeling, the ceiling was sagging. It didn't look good! When Erick got home that night, he said it would be a good idea move the things out of the kitchen and dining room as well. We moved as much as we would upstairs into the kids room. We all slept together in our bed. Thank goodness for king size beds!!! It was a good thing we were all in there together, because at about 3:30 am the loudest sound you have ever heard came from downstairs. The whole roof had collapsed. It was so loud, the kids woke up scared. Erick went down to see what all had happened. He came back up and said it was the whole roof. The backside of our house is a vaulted ceiling, so it didn't effect the upstairs, but he said it could work its way forward, so we needed to get out. We called our landlords father and went to their home for the rest of the night. In the morning we came over to begin the work. They construction guys were there before we got there and had already started to pull things out and try to repair the damage. Here is a picture of what they have pulled out.....

SHE LOST IT!!!!!!!

Oh, what a happy day it is. Bryn has lost her first tooth! I can't believe it, actually it makes me a little sad to think she is growing up so fast. However, she has been looking forward to this day for a long time, and she couldn't be more excited.
